As part of the European LIFE programme, the city of Paris will carry out an experiment in the Bois de Boulogne, a park on the edge of the city, to test a prototype system designed to remove pollution from rainwater. The system has a dual purpose: to store rainwater and thus relieve pressure on the wastewater treatment network; and to remove pollution prior to discharging rainwater to the Seine River. To meet these objectives, Actemium Paris Hydro (VINCI Energies) is currently setting up the main equipment components to be used in the project: a rainwater storage and pumping station and a reed bed filtration system. Work got under way in the summer of 2018 and the project is set to start in the spring of 2020.
