Los Angeles, on the west coast of the United States, will welcome the Olympic Games in 2028. To prepare for them, the city is working on a plan to reduce traffic congestion. Mayor Eric Garcetti and his team are planning to introduce five ways to change transport and get residents to “navigate” their city differently: develop walkable neighbourhoods; create transit hubs with bike and car sharing in mass transit stations to facilitate “last mile” transport; introduce on-demand micro-bus services; increase the electric car fleet to 10% by 2025; and use cloud-connected tracking sensors to measure and optimise behaviour.
