Blockchain technology could be the lethal weapon that ends cyberattacks. Alex Momot, promoter of the Remme “digital passport”, has had the idea of replacing the conventional password/username tandem with an SSL certificate stored in a blockchain. Each device user would be issued a certificate with a cryptographic key associated with the information of a business or an individual. The certificate would be authenticated by the blockchain. The information storage technology, shared by its users without an intermediary, is considered unhackable. With no centralised authentication server or password database to target, hackers would find it virtually impossible to carry out such attacks.
