A new type of thermal and acoustic brick was the focus of attention at Medibat 2017, the Tunisian building trade fair. Developed by Cartago Ceramic and the Bir Mcharga brickworks, the “smart and ecological brick” can be used to naturally regulate the temperature and acoustics of a building. Its inventors drew inspiration from the architecture of the beehive, in which the division into cells has a direct effect on temperature and sound waves, to reduce energy waste and improve comfort in buildings.
