Around the world, from Amsterdam to La Plaine-Saint-Denis, Taiwan, Hamburg and beyond, urban planners, architects, engineers, manufacturers and think tanks (such as La Fabrique de la Cité) are devising solutions, developing tools and carrying out projects designed to improve urban life as the effects of climate change are increasingly felt and urbanisation continues unabated. The many initiatives include bicycle transport with air pollution cut to a minimum, eco-parks, low-energy apartments, new materials, support for green walls and roofs in buildings, and flood warning systems.
