A net-zero-carbon future is impossible without tackling the issue of decarbonising our buildings, which including the construction sector are responsible for almost 40% of global CO2 emissions relating to energy.
In 2021, the OECD launched the “Decarbonising Buildings in Cities and Regions” project with the aim of identifying best practice and the challenges to be faced in decarbonising our buildings. Aimed at national and regional governments, the project makes recommendations on construction policies, including eco-energy renovations, the installation of high-efficiency equipment and the promotion of renewable energies.
