Planting trees and restoring mangrove swamps could save hundreds of billions of dollars per year and protect against climate breakdown. These are the findings of a recent report published by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) which highlights that while more than $4 billion of new infrastructure is needed in the world each year, more than 10% of it could be built using nature. “Governments should be more aware of the role nature can play,” states IISD.
