To make it easier for essential workers (doctors, nurses, shopkeepers, pharmacists, delivery drivers, etc.) to get around during the Covid‑19 outbreak, cities have had to rethink their traffic systems, suspend ticketing on public transport and create more space for cyclists and pedestrians.

CityLab has mapped certain changes under way in city streets in the US and worldwide since 3 April using data from the Covid-19 Transportation Response Center, a new collection of tools for emergency responses created by the National Association of Transportation Officials.
