“Destination Earth”, the ambitious digital twin project led by the European Space Agency (ESA) in partnership with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH), aims to replicate the Earth to better observe it and model the long-term impact of climate change on humankind. This digital model of our planet will perform simulations of the atmosphere, oceans, ice and land with unparalleled accuracy. The project will involve overcoming huge challenges, especially in terms of computing power. Europe is giving itself 10 years to succeed.
