Los Angeles has done its sums, and it fully validates the choice to invest in LED smart streetlights. Over the course of 7 years, 80% of its sodium-vapour lighting points were replaced, and the Californian city is now saving $9 million annually. It has also reduced the load on its grid, using the freed up power to install charging stations for electric vehicles. “Smartpoles” are also being used to develop the 4G mobile phone network.
