Leveraging European smart city trials

The various trials that have been carried out in areas such as energy, water, air, and transport have gone a long way towards validating the smart city concept. The question now is how to upscale so that regions can benefit from these innovations. On the initiative of We Design Services, several players from the ecosystem, including VINCI Energies, met at an initial brainstorming workshop to establish how to drive smart city infrastructure deployment. The actions identified fall into four categories: use, business, feasibility, and organisation. The next stages will involve tackling other points such as financing, the vision held by public players, and regulations.
