Depending as it does on wind, sunshine, rainfall and water flow conditions, renewable energy production is inevitably being affected by climate change. In a report published in late 2023, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) highlighted the risks to wind, solar and hydroelectric energy in certain regions of the world.
