The lack of transport solutions in rural areas exacerbates social divisions and isolation. In a study published with McKinsey, the World Economic Forum made this observation and suggested a specific framework to regulate and encourage rural mobility. Named DRIVER, the framework is based on six guiding principles: dynamic routes, resident involvement, intermodality, versatility, efficiency and appropriate sizing.
The article reviews a number of solutions that aim to get inhabitants of rural areas back on the move.
