Connected and service-oriented, buildings are becoming increasingly smart. But they can’t be smart on their own. As an integral part of the smart city, the building of the future not only exchanges information with its environment but it also exchanges energy: in the context of the green transition, it becomes both a “proactive consumer”, capable of managing energy supply and demand, and a local producer of electricity and heat. It’s this major link that the Smart Building Alliance for Smart Cities (SBA) is currently working on, by defining the Ready2Grid frame of reference.
