According to 2023 analysis by the specialist publication Carbon Brief, wind and solar combined overtook oil in energy production last year. This represents 40% of energy growth between 2022 and 2023, compared with 39% for black gold. This advance, driven by a booming solar sector in China, marks a turning point in the ecological transition. And yet, the persistent dominance of fossil energy (80% of the worldwide mix) and continuing investment in the sector threaten to undermine the Paris Agreement targets.
