In a first for housebuilding, one hundred individual homes in the new Wolf Ranch residential development, 40 km north of Austin, Texas, have been built using 3D printing. This technology builds up walls by laying special concrete, layer by layer, using a computer-controlled printing head. Other solutions of this type are under development in the United States, in order to build more quickly and inexpensively, but also more sustainably and often using materials other than concrete.
