The efficient storage of low-carbon energy will play an essential part in ending our long dependence on fossil fuels and preparing a cleaner future. As part of the worldwide energy transition, a number of battery technologies have been developed to store surplus renewable energy and encourage decarbonisation efforts in sectors ranging from data centres to road transportation. Lithium-ion batteries with an organic component, the storage of surplus energy in sand, and increasingly portable battery power packs are just some of the battery storage solutions with the potential to help us achieve a zero-net-emissions future.
